Geometra subumbrata [Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775, Ankündung eines Systematisches Werkes von den Schmetterlinge der Wiener Gegend: 110. Syntype (s) lost, [ Austria]: Vienna district.
Eupithecia View in CoL D[ietzea] subumbrata View in CoL iliata Schütze, 1956, Zeitschrift des Wiener Entomologen-Vereins 41 (11): 318, taf. 34 (D): 36–40, text-fig. 6: C1. Holotype ♂ (coll. K. Eup[ithecia] scabiosata View in CoL f. limbofasciata Dietze, 1910, Biologie der Eupithecien 1: taf. 76, figs 570, 571; ibidem (1913), 2: 103. Lectotype ♂ (coll. K. Dietze in MNHU, examined), [ Kyrgyzstan]: North Tibet, Alexander Mts. (elevated to species in Schütze, 1956; synonymised in Prout, 1939 and independently in Mironov, 1991).
A widespread Palaearctic species ranging from Ireland and the Pyrenees eastward to Transbaikalia and Mongolia. Mongolian specimens belong to the form iliata Schütze, rather than to the nominate European form, the former being slightly larger and having a less contrasting wing pattern. This species was first recorded for the fauna of Mongolia from Chang(ai) in the Catalogue of Staudinger & Rebel (1901). Mongolia (aimags): Tuv, Zavkhan.
