Type materials. Holotype: Male, Laos, Xieng Khouang Province, Ban Tha (N19 ̊44′50.20′′, E103 ̊37′28.10′′ Alt. 1524m), 29.VI.2017 (Bae Y.S., Na S.M., Lee D.J., Ko J.H. & Lee T.G), Gen. Slide No. INU-10659 . Paratype: 1 ♁, Same data with holotype, Gen. Slide No. INU-10660.
Diagnosis. This new species is clearly distinguished from other members of Stericta by the orange-brown color of the forewing, and in the male genitalia the basal half of the uncus narrowed, and broad U-shaped juxta.
Description Adult ( Figs. 1C & D View FIGURE 1 ). Length of the forewing 6.0− 6.5 mm in male. Head covered with dark brown scales; labial palpus slender, upturned, covered with dark brown scales. Thorax orange brown, mixed with dark brown scales. Ground color of forewing dark orange-brown, with dark brown basal area; medial area with two dark brown spots at costal margin; orbicular stigma dark brown; postmedial line dark brown, undulated, archshaped; distal area dark brown, mixed with olive brown; adterminal line dark brown; terminal line ivory; fringe ivory, mixed with dark brown. Ground color of hindwing grayish brown; postmedial line dark brown, indistinct. Abdomen orange-brown, with subquadrate dark brown spots at 1 st –2 nd tergites. Male genitalia ( Figs. 3A & B View FIGURE 3 ). Uncus elongated, apex rounded, slightly narrow at basal half. Gnathos joined distally, slightly hooked at apex. Valva elongated, curved inwardly, with hairs along outer margin. Vinculum and saccus U-shaped. Juxta broadly U-shaped, apex rounded. Phallus cylindrical, apex pointed, nearly same length as valva, with a sclerotized and distally dentate carina process, and tapering rod-shaped and apically pointed cornutus. Female genitalia. Unknown.
Etymology. The specific epithet is derived from the Latin words atro - (= dark) and aurantiacus (= orange), referring to the ground color of forewing.
Remark. This new species is named by the authors Hanul Kim and Yang-Seop Bae.
