(16) Holopedium gibberum Zaddach, 1855 View in CoL s.lat.
Indian records. Jammu & Kashmir (Himalayas)— Raina & Vass (1993); Sikkim — Venkataraman et al. (1999); General record— Raghunathan & Suresh Kumar (2003).
Remarks. Valid species described from Kaliningrad Area, European Russia ( Zaddach 1855). Indian populations must be studied in detail for confirmation of their status.
Distribution. Keeping in mind that in the Americas the genus is represented by a series of species ( Rowe et al. 2007), we can assume that H. gibberum s. lat. in Eurasia is probably also complex of cryptic species with unknown areas of distribution. Palaearctic populations need to be revised.
Holopedium ramasarmii Rao, Naidu & Padmaja, 1998
Type locality. "freshwaters of Visakhapatnam district ", Andhra Pradesh, India ( Rao et al. 1998a) .
Indian records. Andhra Pradesh — Rao et al. (1998a)
Remarks. Inadequately described taxon. The authors did not make attempts to explain why they decided to create a new taxon. Incerta sedis according to Korovchinsky (2004).
