(29) Daphnia (Daphnia) obtusa Kurz, 1874 emend. Scourfield, 1942 View in CoL s.lat.
Indian records. Jammu & Kashmir—Michael & Sharma B.K. (1988); Himachal Pradesh — Biswas (1964b); General record— Fernando & Kanduru (1984), Sharma B.K. & Michael (1987), Murugan et al. (1998), Raghunathan & Suresh Kumar (2003).
Remarks. Valid species described from Czech Republic ( Kurz 1874). Similar forms are very distributed worldwide and apparently are composed of a large group of species. Adamowicz et al. (2009) represented 12(!) obtusa -like species in their tree, but several species were missed ( Kotov & Taylor 2010).
Distribution. Almost cosmopolitan, recently introduced even in Australia ( Benzie 2005).
Daphnia (Ctenodaphnia) pamirensis Rylow, 1930
Indian records. Jammu & Kashmir— Brehm & Woltereck (1939); General record— Fernando & Kanduru (1984).
Remarks. Described from the Pamir (Rylow 1930). Junior synonym of D. fusca Gurney, 1907 ( Benzie 2005) .
Daphnia (Ctenodaphnia) projecta Hebert, 1977
Indian records. Tamil Nadu —Venkataraman & Krishnaswami (1984a), Venkataraman (1995a, 1999b), Raghunathan & Suresh Kumar (2002, 2009); General record— Murugan et al. (1998), Raghunathan & Suresh Kumar (2003).
Remarks. Species inquirenda. It was described from Australia ( Hebert 1977) with unsufficient level of morphological description. Then Colbourne et al. (2006) put this among the carinata -like taxa, but these genetical data were not coordinated with taxonomy. Benzie (2005) placed this taxon among junior synonyms of D. carinata King, 1853 . Even in case of future acceptance of D. projecta as a valid species, its presence in India needs special confirmation.
Indian records. General record— Fernando & Kanduru (1984).
Remarks. It was described from United Kingdom ( Baird 1850). Species inquirenda.
