(117) Dadaya macrops ( Daday, 1898) View in CoL
Indian records. Assam —Sharma S. (2008, a, b); Kerala —Michael & Sharma B.K. (1988), Subhash Babu & Thomas (2007); Maharashtra — Rane (2006); Manipur —Sharma B.K. & Sharma S. (2009a); Meghalaya — Sharma B.K. & Sharma S. (2011); Southern India — Brehm (1953); Tamil Nadu —Michael & Sharma B.K. (1998), Raghunathan & Suresh Kumar (2003).
Remarks. Valid species described from Sri Lanka ( Daday 1898).
Distribution. “Circumtropical” ( Smirnov 1996). Very common in the Oriental zone ( Idris 1983; Maiphae et al. 2005; Tanaka & Ohtaka 2010).
Disparalona adiyodii Subhash Babu & Thomas, 2007
Type locality. “ Muriyad Wetlands , Trichur District, Kerala, India ” ( Subhash Babu & Thomas 2007) .
Indian record: Kerala — Subhash Babu & Thomas (2007).
Comments: From the description ( Subhash Babu & Thomas 2007), which includes useful drawings, it seems that this species resembles Disparalona hamata ( Birge, 1879) . The latter, which was described from North America, has a wide distribution and could be a species group. It is possible that Asian records correspond to a valid species, but “true” D. hamata should be redescribed in detail, and a special revision needs to be conducted to confirm an independent species status of Indian populations.
