= Manihot stenophylla Pax (1910: 73) . Lectotype (designated here)— BRAZIL. Goiás: “Brasilien, Staat Goyaz”, A.F.M. Glaziou 22129 (BR0000005100262!, isolectotypes F! [photo neg. 5472], K000600341!, P04835535 !, P04835536 !, S-R-10710).

Pax (1910) considered the collections Pohl 1184 and Pohl 1708 as types of Manihot triphylla . Rogers & Appan (1973) also cited the same specimens mentioned by Pax as types, but they did not lectotipify it. However, we analyzed the vouchers of this species very carefully and concluded that they are, in fact, only one collection: Pohl 1708 = kat. n°. 1184. Even then, it was necessary to lectotypify it, because we found three specimens of this collection at W. Thus, we chose specimen W0051456 ( Fig. 9 ) as the lectotype because it has evident reproductive structures.

When Pax (1910) established M. stenophylla , he did not mention the herbarium where the type (Glaziou 22129) was deposited. Since he worked in Berlin, we believe that the type used by Pax was deposited at B and that it was probably destroyed during World War II. Because of this, we chose the specimen BR0000005100262 ( Fig. 10 ) as the lectotype because it is well conserved and it complies with the original description.
