Anthicus armatus Truqui, 1855

= Anthicus pseudoarmatus TELNOV, 2008 syn. nov.

Synonymy. After studying the holotype of A. armatus as well as additional comparative material of this species from Сyprus, Iran, Iraq, and Syria, we came to the conclusion that A. pseudoarmatus Telnov (described from United Arab Emirates) is conspecific with A. armatus which is in fact highly variable in head shape, size of eyes and length of tempora, as well as in elytral pattern and direction of elytral pubescence.

Comments. It is possible that Uhmann's (1996) Hormozgan record for A. subarmatus Pic refers to a misidentified A. armatus . This specimen was not available for the present study.

Chorotype. Saharo-Arabian (4.2.3.1).
