HOLOTYPE: AMNH 335534 About AMNH , adult male, collected on Tabar Island, 03.00S, 152.00E ( Papua New Guinea, 1984), Tabar Group, New Ireland Province, Papua New Guinea, on 14 January 1935, by William F. Coultas on the Whitney South Sea Expedition (no. 46445). GoogleMaps
COMMENTS: Mayr cited the AMNH number of the holotype in the original description. Paratypes are: AMNH 335535–335542.
On Tabar, the Coultases had a base camp at Lumburu, ca. 02.57S, 152.00E (W. Coultas, Vol. Y, unpublished journals of the Whitney South Sea Expedition, Department of Ornithology Archives).
