Acanthiza inornata submastersi Mathews

Acanthiza inornata submastersi Mathews, 1912c: 43 (Stirling Ranges, South-west Australia).

Now Acanthiza inornata Gould, 1841 View in CoL . See Mayr, 1986b: 431, and Schodde and Mason, 1999: 209.

HOLOTYPE: AMNH 600767 About AMNH , adult male, collected in the Stirling Range , 34.23S, 117.50E ( USBGN, 1957b), Western Australia, Australia, on 13 July 1911, by F.L. Whitlock. From the Mathews Collection (no. 10519) via the Rothschild Collection. GoogleMaps

COMMENTS: Mathews cited his catalog number of the holotype in the original description. In addition to Whitlock’s field label and Mathews and Rothschild type labels, this specimen bears a yellow ‘‘Figured’’ label, indicating that it was illustrated in Mathews (1922a: pl. 449, opp. p. 435, text p. 441), where it is confirmed as the type of submastersi. Mathews cataloged three additional specimens at the same time and had two specimens from Whitlock’s earlier trip to the Stirling Range ; these five specimens are paratypes of submastersi: AMNH 600766 About AMNH (Mathews no. 6186), male, 27 September 1910 (Yetermirrup) ; AMNH 600768 About AMNH (10521), male, 13 July 1911 ; AMNH 600769 About AMNH (10522), male, 21 August 1911 ; AMNH 600770 About AMNH (10520), female, 8 October 1911 ; and AMNH 600771 About AMNH (6185), female, 24 September 1910 (Yetermirrup) .
