Muscicapa toruensis Hartert, 1900b: 34 (Fort Gerry, Toru) .
Now Melaenornis fischeri toruensis (Hartert, 1900) . See Urban et al., 1997: 440.
HOLOTYPE: AMNH 604387 About AMNH , adult female, collected at Fort Portal (5 Fort Gerry), 00.40N, 30.17E ( Chapin, 1954: 662, 718), Uganda, on 9 April 1899, by W.J. Ansorge (no. 351). From the Rothschild Collection. GoogleMaps
COMMENTS: In the original description, Hartert did not say how many specimens he had but only gave a single set of measurements. Hartert (1920: 489) said: ‘‘Besides the type from Toru we have now 16 skins, all collected by Grauer …’’. Thus, he had only the single specimen when he named this form. He did not give Ansorge’s unique field number in the original description but did list it in Hartert (1920: 489). This specimen was collected on Ansorge’s third African expedition ( Hartert, 1900b: 25).
