HOLOTYPE: AMNH 143478 , adult male, collected at Meng-ting , 1700 ft, 23.30N, 99.03E (Times Atlas), Yunnan Province, China, on 18 February 1917, by Roy Chapman Andrews and Edmund Heller on the Asiatic Zoological Expedition 1916–1917 (no. 491).

COMMENTS: The AMNH number of the holotype was cited in the original description. One paratype was collected: AMNH 143477, adult male from Malipa, Myanmar, 14 March 1917. Andrews and Andrews (1918: 233–243) described their stay at Meng-ting.
