Diagnosis. Adult ( Fig. 9 View FIGURES 3 – 10 ) wingspan 7.0̄ 10.5 mm. The male genitalia of S. nitidana ( Fig. 17 View FIGURES 16 – 19 ) are characterized by the tegumen produced triangularly to a narrowly rounded apex and the valva having an indistinct neck. In the female genitalia ( Fig. 19 View FIGURES 16 – 19 ) the posterior margin of the 7th sternite is excavated to about half its length in a broad Ushape. It can be distinguished from its congeners by its conical phallus tapering to the apex.

Hosts. Fagaceae : Quercus spp., Fagus spp., Betula spp., Castanea spp. ( Liu & Li 2002).

Distribution. China (Gansu, Henan, Hubei, Jilin, Shaanxi, Shanxi, Yunnan, Zhejiang), Japan, Russia, England.
