Anthophora (Melea) bomboides Kirby, 1838 View in CoL View at ENA
Counties: Aitkin, Anoka, Becker, Cass, Clearwater, Cook, Pine, Redwood, Saint Louis, Todd.
Comments: The specimens in Minnesota would be classified into the subspecies A. b. bomboides and A. b. sodalis following Brooks (1983). The principally eastern A. b. bomboides occurs primarily in the northern and eastern areas of the state, with the rarer western form A. b. sodalis occurring in the southwestern area of the state. Further taxonomic investigation is needed to determine whether the subspecies represent color variation or distinct taxa.
Subgenus Mystacanthophora Brooks
