Troxodania decumanus ( Krczal, 1959) comb. nov.
Pygmephorus decumanus Krczal, 1959: 542 , fig. 68.
Bakerdania sinanii Sevastianov and Zahida Al Douri, 1989: 25 , fig.1, syn. nov.
This species was described from Germany from rotten stump of pine ( Krczal 1959). It was also recorded from Slovakia phoretic on Trox sabulosus Linnaeus ( Mašan 1993) View in CoL . This is a first record in the Russian fauna.
Material examined. Eleven females, RUSSIA: Far East, Primorye, ca. 50 km SWW Vladivostok, ca 10 km NW Slavyanka, Bamburovo vill., at light, on a single specimen of Trox cadaverinus Illiger attracting to a light trap, 22 July 1990, coll. Napolov A. (beetle), Trach V.A. (mites); 2 females, SLOVAKIA: Jakubov, on Trox sabulosus in decaying felt, 20 October 1992, coll. Mašan P.
Remarks. Sevastianov & Zahida Al Douri (1989) described Bakerdania sinanii from Ukraine and separated from Troxodania decumanus ( Krczal, 1959) comb. nov. mainly by relative lengths of setae c 1 and c 2; in B. sinanii c 2 distinctly longer than c 1, while in T. decumanus c1 longer than c 2. Our study of the holotype of B. sinanii revealed that setae c 1 are longer than c 2, and this species currently inseparable from the original description of T. decumanus ; we consider it as a junior synonym of T. decumanus . Mahunka (1969) described subspecies Neopygmephorus decumanus gobiensis from Mongolia, but description and figures of this subspecies considerably differ from nominative subspecies and we consider N. decumanus gobiensis as genuine species. The taxonomic position of this species is unclear due to incomplete description. It is possible that this species also belongs to the genus Troxodania .
