Type material. HOLOTYPE: MGUS AA5 , Albaida del Aljarafe ( Guadalquivir Basin , Seville, Andalusia, Spain, Early Pliocene) . PARATYPES: MGUS AA2 , AA3 , AA4 , AA6 , AA45 , same locality as holotype .

Diagnosis. Carapace transversely rectangular, slightly wider than long; straight front slightly turned downwards; front as wide as the orbits; inner edge of supraorbital margin distinct; wide orbits slightly expanded distally with one short tooth on outer orbital angle; supraorbital margins gently sinuous, without fissures; sinuous, spineless suborbital margins; anterolateral margins slightly convex, with one short tooth; long, gently rounded posterolateral margins, slightly converging posteriorly; long, straight posterior margin; deep gastric pits; smooth dorsal surface of carapace; slight horizontal ridges, moderately convex, without clear indication of regions. Chelipeds (pereopod 1) stout, heavy, surfaces smooth; merus moderately long; carpus subtriangular, spineless; palm stout, globular; dactylus and pollex slender, as long as the propodus, with toothless occlusal margin. Ambulatory legs (pereopods 2–5) conspicuously long, slender, smooth.

Etymology. From Ispal, name of an ancient village nearby Sevilla, city located close to the quarry where the specimens were discovered.
