Key for the identification of Aphonodiacanthus Tonon & Campos gen. nov. species
1. General coloration yellowish-brown to reddish-brown, mostly uniform; head strongly more darkened than body coloration ( Figs. 2A, H, E View FIGURE 2 ); FIII posterior region darker than median and anterior region ( Figs. 2A–C. H–J View FIGURE 2 ); supra anal plate posterior margin with V-shaped laterally ( Figs. 2F, K View FIGURE 2 ). Male genitalia: PsP outer lobe less sclerotized than inner lobe ( Fig. 3B View FIGURE 3 ); endophallic sclerite: heart-shaped ( Fig. 3B View FIGURE 3 )............... Aphonodiacanthus melanocephalus Tonon, Campos & Souza-Dias sp. nov.
- General coloration yellowish-brown, with a few maculae or bands on tergites; head coloration similar to the body; FIII coloration uniform; supra anal plate posterior margin with V-shaped laterally or other shape; male genitalia: PsP lobes equally sclerotized; Endophallic sclerite: not heart shaped..................................................................... 2
2. Body and legs covered with maculae ( Figs. 5A–C View FIGURE 5 ), tergites with uniform coloration ( Fig. 5A View FIGURE 5 ); sternites pale yellow ( Fig. 5C View FIGURE 5 ); supra anal plate posterior margin with V-shaped laterally ( Figs. 5F, H View FIGURE 5 ). Male genitalia: pseudepiphallic sclerite straight in dorsal view ( Fig. 6A View FIGURE 6 ); anterior portion upcurved to dorsal face in lateral view, sub 90° angle ( Fig. 6C View FIGURE 6 ); PsP inner lobe reeaching the inner lobe of opposite side ( Fig. 6B View FIGURE 6 ); ectophallic invagination: Ectophallic apodeme posterior margin not rounded ( Fig. 6B View FIGURE 6 ); endophallic sclerite: posterior region surpassing PsP apex ( Fig. 6B View FIGURE 6 )..................................................................................................... Aphonodiacanthus maculatus Tonon & Campos sp. nov.
- Body not completely covered with maculae ( Figs. 8A–C View FIGURE 8 ), tergites with a darkened band on posterior margins ( Fig. 8A View FIGURE 8 ); sternites dark yellow ( Fig. 8C View FIGURE 8 ); supra anal plate posterior margin beveled medially ( Fig. 8F View FIGURE 8 ); male genitalia: pseudepiphallus sclerite sub-straght in dorsal view ( Fig. 9A View FIGURE 9 ); anterior portion upcurved to dorsal face in lateral view, almost right angled ( Fig. 9C View FIGURE 9 ); PsP inner lobe not reaching the inner lobe of opposite side ( Fig. 9B View FIGURE 9 ); ectophallic invagination: Ectophallic apodeme posterior margin rounded ( Fig. 9B View FIGURE 9 ); endophallic sclerite: posterior region not surpassing PsP apex ( Fig. 9B View FIGURE 9 )......................................................................
