Type material. Haemonides candida houlbertina assumes the type of Castnia strandi Houlbert, 1917 , because it is a replacement name (see strandi below).
A possible female syntype is in MNHU.
Type locality. The type locality is unknown (see strandi below).
Taxonomic status. H. candida houlbertina Lamas, 1995 is a replacement name for the homonymic Castnia strandi Houlbert, 1917 . It is here considered to be a junior subjective synonym of nominotypical H. cronis ( Cramer, 1775) , syn. nov.
