DIAGNOSIS — This species is distinct by having Z5 ca. 3.7 times as long as S5, Jv4 present and Jv5 ca. 70% as long as ventrianal shield and macrosetae of legs III and IV sharp­tipped.

FEMALE — (5 specimens measured).

Dorsum — Dorsal shield mostly smooth, with reticulations along anterolateral margins and few striae and reticulations on posterior half, 416(403–432) long and 291(278–301) wide. Setae j1 40(38–42), j3 26 (24–28), j4 19(18–20), j5 18(16–18), j6 15(15–16), J2 15(14–15), J5 7(6–8), z2 24(22–25), z4 25(24–25), z5 15(14–16), Z1 17(16–18), Z4 16(14–17), Z5 52(48–58), s4 27 (25–28), S2 15 (14–17), S4 14 (13–15), S5 14 (13–15), r3 19(18–20), R1 17(16–18). All setae smooth.

Peritreme — Extending to level between j1 and j3.

Venter — Distances between St1–St3 69(66–70), St2–St2 74(72–76), St5–St5 78(72– 86). Ventrianal shield 128(122–134) long, 74(71–75) wide at level of Zv2 and 73(71–74) wide at level of anus, with a pair of elliptical pores posterior to and slightly mesad of Jv2. One pair of metapodal shields; Caudoventral setae smooth and sharp­tipped.

Chelicera — Movable digit 46(45–47) long, with at least 4 teeth; fixed digit 36(35–36) long, with at least 11 teeth and a discernible pilus dentilis.

Spermatheca — Calyx with distal 3/5 slender and basal 2/5 bulged, 49(46–53) long; atrium distinct.

Legs — Macrosetae sharp­tipped; Sge II 30 (29–32), Sge III 46 (45–47), Sti III 38 (35– 39), Sge IV 74 (72–76), Sti IV 58 (55–61) and St IV 73 (70–77). Chaetotaxy of genu III: 1­ 2/1,2/0­1.

MALE — Unknown.

LOCALITY AND TYPE MATERIAL — Holotype and 4 paratypes females from Cassia sp., 11 km W Diang, Cameroon, 04­II­1991, L. Louis deposited at ESALQ­USP. One paratype female, same data as holotype, deposited at IITAIM.

ETYMOLOGY — The epithet neohavu refers to the similarity between this species and U. havu .

REMARKS — This new species resembles U. havu , but the latter differs by having longer setae z2, z4 and s4, knobbed Jv5, and knobbed macrosetae on legs III and IV and by lacking Jv4. Ueckermannseius eastafricae Moraes, Zannou & Oliveira , sp. nov. and U. macrosetosus are also similar to the new species, but the former has Z5 ca. 2.5 times as long as S5 and knobbed macrosetae on legs III and IV, and the latter has shorter peritreme (extending between j3 and z2) and knobbed macrosetae on legs III and IV.
