Benthic; depth: intertidal to 37 m (120 ft) (min.: Miller and Lea 1972; max.: Personal communication: Scripps Institution of Oceanography Fish Collection, La Jolla, California). Originally named and still sometimes seen as Artedius creaseri (Hubbs, 1926) .
