Longjaw Leatherjack or Smallmouthed Leatherjack. To 57.8 cm (22.8 in) FL (Personal communication: Scripps Institution of Oceanography Fish Collection, La Jolla, California). Laguna San Ignacio, southern Baja California ( Galván-Magaña et al. 2000) to Callao, Peru ( Chirichigno and Vélez 1998), including Gulf of California (Smith-Vaniz in Fischer et al. 1995). Nearshore marine and estuaries ( Allen and Robertson 1994), occasionally in freshwater (Argulo et al. 2020); depth: 0 to 30 m (98 ft) ( Robertson and Allen 2002).
