Distribution: Palearctic: Austria, Corsica, France, Hungary, Iran, Israel, Italy, Romania, Russia (North Caucasus), Sicily, Spain, Turkey *, Turkmenistan, Ukraine.

Habits: Very psammophilous and xerophilic species. Larvae found in a nest of sphecid wasp Tachysphex panzeri (Vander Linden, 1829) , feeding on paralyzed acrids ( Grandi, 1961).

Diagnosis. Small or mid-sized (3.5-9.5 mm) bright colored flies. Frons and face of midwidth, vibrissal angles placed at oral margin, head in profile angular; hind border of head slightly shortened; orb 1+0 or 1–2 very fine proclinate ones present; flagellomere 3–10× as long as pedicel.

Distribution: 13 species in southern part of Palearctic and Afrotropic regions.

Habits: Larvae of Xeromyia sp. developed on paralyzed locust Dociostaurus kraussi (Ingenitskii, 1897) in nest of sphecid wasp Tachysphex pompiliformis (Panzer, 1805) ( Malkovsky, 1962) .
