Centris (Melacentris) melanosara MOURE, 2003b: 422 View in CoL (Junior synonym of C. discolor Smith, 1874 View in CoL ).

Type data. This species was described based on a single female specimen of C. discolor with orange metasoma. The presence of specimens with that coloration in populations of species where this structure is blackish has been observed in other members of the genus, for example in C. dentata Smith, 1854 . The holotype of C. melanosara was collected by the German Entomologist Petr Wolfgang Wygodzinsky (1916‒1987) in Viçosa, southwest Brazil and is housed at DZUP.
