Type material. Holotype ( NMB): 1 male, “ MALAYSIA, PAHANG, 2003, Cameron Highlands ; TANAH RATA, 1500-1700m, P. Pacholátko leg., 1-13.ii.”

Description. Male. Body oblong, slightly convex, shining, covered with short suberect setae, which are easily breakable and are lacking in the holotype. Coloration of head, antennomeres 1–3, pronotum and scutellum yellow; ventrum yellowish-brown, legs infuscate, brownish; antennomeres 1–4 (remaining antennomeres absent in the holotype) and mouthparts brown; epipleura brown, elytra brown with yellow pattern. Pattern on each elytron consists of sutural stripe, big yellow band in the basal 1/4 of elytron, with darkened (brown) central part, and apical subquadrate macula at apex.

Head moderate in size, dorsal side slightly convex, finely punctate; clypeus long, with rounded anterolateral angles, and shallowly emarginated margin. Eyes moderate in size, moderately prominent; the distance between the eyes ca. 2.3 times as wide as the maximum diameter of an eye. Antennae filiform, antennomeres 5–11 missing in the holotype. Pronotum slightly convex, covered with fine punctation similar to that on head; antero-lateral angles rounded, projecting anteriorly; anterior and lateral margins gently arcuate; postero-lateral angles straight; posterior margin slightly bisinuate; PW/PL 1.9. Scutellum relatively small, finely punctate, equilaterally triangular. Elytra oblong-oval, widest at the middle, elongated, with three indistinct longitudinal carinae, densely punctate; humeri well marked; EL/EW 1.3; EL/PL 4.5; EW/PW 1.78; TL/EW 1.6. Legs of moderate length. Hind legs missing in the holotype. Sternites III–IV sparsely covered with short setae, setae are longer on mesal part of sternite III and IV, strnite IV has two transverse areas devoided of setation situated close to its anterior margin; sternites V–VII closely covered with long setae regularly; caudal margin of sternite VII shallowly emarginate. Tergite VII subtrapezoidal, without apodemes. Tergite VIII moderately sclerotized, trapezoidal, bearing long setae on apical margin, with a pair of long and stout apodemes; tergite IX lightly sclerotized, apical portion small, with minute setae at apex, with a pair of long and very stout apodemes; sternite IX consisting of paired plates with relatively long apical setae. Tegmen well sclerotized, connected with penis; basal part semicircular; parameres large, wide and inwardly hooked, shorter than basal part, pointed at apices. Penis well sclerotized, with unusually broad basal part, apical portion elongate, narrow, apex widened, cordiform, only slightly exceeding the length of parameres.

Female. Unknown.

Measurements. Male (n = 1): TL 4.40 mm; PW 1.55 mm; PL 0.8 mm; EL 3.6 mm; EW 2.75 mm.

Distribution. Malayan Penins. (Pahang).

Etymology. The species is named after the type locality, Tanah Rata, Malaysia.

Notes. Somewhat similar to Scirtes malaccanus sp. n. and S. kodadai sp. n., but without middle transverse yellow band on elytra, and with round spot on humeral portion. Aedeagus unique, with very large incurved parameres and cordiform apex of penis.
