Bolostromus venustus Ausserer, 1875: 150 View in CoL , pl. 5, f. 10–12 (Description female).
Bolostromus venustus Simon, 1892 a: 100 View in CoL , f. 101 (Description male).
Type material. Länge des ganzen Thieres …..6. 4. St. Fé de Bogota. ( BMNH) Examined by photo .
Diagnosis. (based on the illustration provided by Indicatti 2007: 20-A–E). Females are distinguished from all species by their elongated spermathecae with small, curved internally positioned lobes.
Distribution. Only known from Colombia.
Note. The type specimen is in bad condition, neither the opisthosoma nor the genitalia could be found in the vial (Sherwood pers. comm). Only a few details can be observed from the pictures, the AME are widely separated, the rastrellum has six spines and the cheliceral retromargin has six teeth. Simon (1892) described the male from an unknown locality with only an illustration of the eye pattern and a brief description of the tibia and metatarsi. In 1997, Indicatti stated that the specimen BMNH 300 was examined from photos and the genitalia was illustrated by J.P.L. Guadanucci and C.A. Rheims. Indicatti redescribed the species, based on a female and a male from the AMNH, from the Bogotá region. Consequently , his descriptions are the most reliable information to identify the species (Indicatti 1997: 51).
