Global distribution: NA, NT, PA.
Argentinian distribution: Buenos Aires, Jujuy, Mendoza, Río Negro, Santa Cruz.
Ecology: This species inhabits freshwater permanent environments, lakes and springs. It was found in wide altitude range (5–3486 m a.s.l.), electrical conductivity ranging from 808 to 2300 μS/cm and alkaline waters (pH: 7.88–9.5).
