Pambolus bizelab Aguilera-Uribe & Zaldívar-Riverón sp. nov.
( Figs 7A–7E View FIGURE 7 , 8A–8D View FIGURE8 )
Diagnosis. Following Braet and van Achterberg’s (2003) key to Neotropical species Pambolus , P. bizelab runs to P. hemitaeniatus since both species share a subapical white band and smooth area of vertex. However, the new species can be distinguished from P. hemitaeniatus by the number of white flagellomeres (14th to 20th in P. bizelab , 16th to 25th in P. hemitaeniatus forming an apical white band that comprises almost half of the antenna) and a coriaceous mesoscutum (granulate in P. hemitaeniatus ).
Description. Female. Body 2.0 mm long ( Fig. 7A View FIGURE 7 ). Colour. Head black, area around scape light brown. Scape and pedicel honey yellow. First to second flagellomeres honey yellow, 3rd to 13th flagellomeres black 14th to 20th flagellomeres white, 21st to 22nd brown. Palpi white; gena, clypeus and labrum brown. Propodeum amber brown, mesosoma black; spine of propodeum amber brown apically. Coxae, trochanters and trochantelli white; femora and tibiae honey yellow, tarsi darkening. Wings hyaline, pterostigma yellow, veins brown, except veins r–m, 1cu–a (cu–a) and junction of veins 2SR (2RS) and 2M (2–M), which are not pigmented. Metasoma apically and basally brown, medially dark brown. Ovipositor dark brown.
Head. Antenna with 22 flagellomeres. First flagellomere 2.7 × longer than broad apically, further flagellomeres gradually shortening so that penultimate flagellomere 1.6 × longer than broad. Head in dorsal view transverse, 1.5 × broader than long, eye 2.0 × longer than temple. Face sparsely setose. Occiput excavated. Ocelli elliptic, POL:OD:OOL as in 7:3:11. Eye in lateral view nearly round, 1.2 × wider than high, eye 2.2 × wider than temple. Hypostomal and occipital carinae not meeting. Oral opening elliptic, 2.6 × wider than high. Face transversely slightly rugulose, temple polished, frons around ocellar field with concentric striations ( Fig. 7C View FIGURE 7 ). Six maxillar and four labial palpi.
Mesosoma. 1.5 × longer than high (lateral view); pronotum rugose to slightly rugose posteriorly, (lateral view), pronotal furrow wide and scrobiculate; propleuron smooth-slightly rugose anteriorly. Notauli narrow, shallow, scrobiculate, not joining, reaching the end of mesoscutum. Mesoscutal lobes coracious, sparsely setose. Scutellar sulcus long, with five carinae. Scutellar disc smooth, sparsely setose. Propodeum slightly rugulose, medial smooth area anteriorly, with long and narrow basal areola; pair of lateral spines shorter than basitarsus of fore leg, slender and curved. Precoxal sulcus wide and scrobiculate running along about two-thirds length of mesopleuron. Mesopleuron smooth, rugulose posteriorly ( Fig. 7.D View FIGURE 7 ).
Legs. Hind femur 2.4 × longer than broad medially. Hind basitarsus slightly shorter than tarsomeres 2–4 combined. Second tarsomere 2.6 × longer than broad. Tarsal claws not pectinate.
Wings. Fore wing: Fore wing 0.9 × as long as body. Pterostigma 3.6 × longer than broad and issuing r distally from its middle, r 0.5 × as long as width of pterostigma. Second submarginal 2.5 × longer than broad, 2RS (2–SR) as long as 3RSa (3–SR), 3RSb (4–SR) straight, reaching tip of wing and 2.9 × longer than 3RSa (3–SR). 1M (1–M) 1.6 × longer than m–cu (1m –cu). Parallel vein 2CUb (CU1a) interstitial to vein 1CU (2–CU1). 1cu–a (cu–a) almost interstitial to 1M (1–M).—Hind wing: m–cu present, interstitial in right wing, antefurcal in right wing.
Metasoma. About as long as head and mesosoma combined. First tergite, strongly broadening posteriorly, 1.4 × broader behind than long medially, its scutum striate, lateral areas striate ( Fig. 7E View FIGURE 7 ). Remaining tergites polished. Ovipositor sheath in lateral view 0.5 × as long as fore tarsomeres 1–4 combined. Posterior end of ovipositor finely serrate.
Male. Body length 2.9 mm ( Fig. 8A View FIGURE8 ). Antenna longer than body, with 31 flagellomeres, 1st to 4th flagellomeres brown, 5th to 31 st dark brown. Frons around ocellar field and vertex with concentric striations ( Fig. 8B View FIGURE8 ). Scape and pedicel light brown. Head brown. Pronotum and spines of propodeum dark brown, mesosoma black. Metasoma dark brown. First tergite striate, long and broadening posteriorly, striations extending to almost half of second tergite; laterally from scutum tergite striate ( Fig. 8D View FIGURE8 ). Coxae yellow, trochanters and trochantelli white, femora yellow, apical brown band in hind trochantellus, tibia and tarsomeres 1–4 light yellow, 5th tarsomeres and tarsal claws brown.
Etymology. The specific epithet refers to the word wasp in Zapotec.

Genetic distances. Intraspecific p uncorrected COI distances ranged from 6 to 11 bp (0.9 to 1.7%) among the four sequenced individuals of P. oblognispina , whereas interspecific distances between the latter species and P. chinanteco varied between 55 and 56 bp (9 to 9.2%). Interspecific p uncorrected 28S distances among the four species that were sequenced on the other hand varied between 1 (0.1% between two undescribed species from Veracruz) to 17 bp (2.5% between P. chinanteco and P. bizelab ).
