Material examined. “ Sebastopol Krim 7.3.[19]06 W. Pliginskii [printed] / Euphanias pliginskii Brnh. [red, handwritten] / Bernhauer d. [printed] / Typ. [printed] / Holotypus Euphanias pliginskii Bernhauer, 1911 [red, semihandwritten]” (1 syntype female, ZIN); “[golden circle] / Sebastopol. Tauria. Inkerman [in Russian] 4.12.11 V. Pliginskii [printed] / Euphanias pliginskii Bernh. [handwritten] / Euphanias pliginskii Brnh. [handwritten]” (1 female, ZIN); Yevpatoria, Tavrich. gub. 30. V.1901 V. E. Yakovlev, Euphanias pliginskii Bernhauer, 1912 det. M. Gildenkov, 2007 (1 male, ZIN); same data, but collecting date 27. V.1905 (1 male, ZIN) .

Note. The original description of Euphanias pliginskii was based on an unspecified number of specimens collected by Vladimir Pliginskiy near Sevastopol on March 7, 1906 ( Bernhauer 1912). We were able to find two specimens of E. pliginskii in the ZIN collection collected by Pliginskiy. The first with the red label “ Holotypus Euphanias pliginskii Bernhauer, 1911 ”, whose locality and date correspond to those from the original description. The second specimen was pinned with the golden circle, which is one of the methods of marking type specimens in the collections at that time. However, the locality and date of collection are different from those cited in the original description ( Bernhauer 1912). Therefore, we considered the first specimen to be a syntype and the second is not a type.
