Diagnosis

Axial ribs orthocline to slightly opisthocline, straight to slightly opisthocyrt, extending to but not across peripheral cord; four primary spiral cords weakly crossing axial ribs; peripheral cord borders anterior suture.

Description

Shell small, length less than 10 mm, thick. Elongate, pleural angle about 12°. Protoconch unknown. Four whorls preserved: flat-sided, sutures weakly impressed. All spire whorls with four strong, rounded, primary spiral cords lightly crossing 14 strong, rounded axial ribs; ribs straight to slightly opisthocyrt, orthocline to slightly opisthocline. Spiral cord interspaces U-shaped to flat-bottomed, as wide as cords; axial rib interspaces as wide as ribs. Fifth and anteriormost spiral cord on spire partly exposed adjacent to anterior suture, uncrossed by axial ribs. Last whorl with fifth spiral cord at periphery; base with four strong spiral cords separated by slightly wider interspaces. Outer lip missing. Remaining aperture circular; parietal area without callus; columella short, without columellar fold; anterior canal moderately deep, short, twisted into antero-abaxial orientation. No varices nor ventrolateral varix.

Remarks

The distinctive pattern of flat-sided whorls, rounded spiral cords and ribs, all about equal in width, and additional peripheral and basal cords without axial ribs are characters shared with species of Terebralia .
