Type material. Holotype male (Ar45279). VIETNAM, Hai Phong Province, Cat Ba National Park , 20°21.44′N, 105°34.21′E, 1–30 July 2007, Dinh-Sac Pham leg. GoogleMaps Paratypes: 2 males (Ar45280 to Ar45281), same data as holotype GoogleMaps .

Etymology. The specific name an adjective from the Latin word ‘ hamatus’, meaning ‘hamate’ or ‘hook-like’, referring to the shape of the median apophysis end.

Diagnosis. Sinartoria hamata Wang & Li sp. nov. is similar to S. damingshanensis Wang, Framenau & Zhang, 2021 ( Wang et al. 2021b: 573, figs 1A–C, 2A–H) in having a long embolus, and long and groove-like terminal apophysis, but differs from the latter by the single terminal apophysis (vs. double apophysis in S. damingshanensis ), the simple median apophysis (vs. with three branches in S. damingshanensis ), and the membranous conductor (vs. conductor sclerotized in S. damingshanensis ) ( Figs 5–6 View FIGURE 5 View FIGURE 6 ).

Description. Male holotype ( Fig. 6A View FIGURE 6 ) total length 3.53. Prosoma 1.99 long, 1.43 wide; opisthosoma 1.67 long, 0.98 wide. Carapace grey brown. Eye sizes and interdistances: AME 0.06, ALE 0.05, PME 0.26, PLE 0.17; AME– AME 0.05, AME–ALE 0.08, PME–PME 0.18, PME–PLE 0.16. Clypeus height 0.05. Chelicerae yellow brown, with three promarginal and two retromarginal teeth. Endites and labium yellow brown, longer than wide. Sternum yellow brown, with sparse brown hairs. Legs yellow brown. Leg measurements: I 4.68 (1.33, 1.68, 1.08, 0.59); II 4.51 (1.29, 1.45, 1.04, 0.73); III 4.24 (1.23, 1.28, 1.09, 0.64); IV 6.04 (1.59, 1.92, 1.66, 0.87). Leg formula: 4123. Opisthosoma oval. Dorsum yellow brown, with black markings. Venter yellow brown.

Palp ( Figs 5A–B View FIGURE 5 , 6B–F View FIGURE 6 ). Terminal apophysis wide, covered by median apophysis, its anterior part sclerotized and groove-like. Median apophysis oval in ventral view, distally hook-shaped. Embolus long and robust, its anterior part resting in the long groove of a large and complex terminal apophysis.

Female unknown.

Remarks. This species shares with other members of Sinartoria a posterior tuft of white setae at the opisthosoma, the large subtegulum comprising about one-third of the bulb, the thick and short median apophysis (with one conspicuous and two indistinct arms), the arc-shaped embolus extending counterclockwise, and the sclerotized, groove-like terminal apophysis (TA 2 in Wang, et al. 2021b). Therefore, we believe that Sinartoria is the most suitable genus to accommodate this new species.

Habitat preferences. All the specimens were collected by pitfall traps, thus this species may live on the forest floor or in leaf litter.

Distribution. Vietnam (Hai Phong) ( Fig. 7 View FIGURE 7 ).
