Etymology. The specific name is an adjective from the Latin word ‘ serpentinus’, meaning ‘serpentiform’, referring to the shape of the embolus.

Diagnosis: Allotrochosina serpentina Wang & Li sp. nov. resembles A. huangi Wang, Li & Zhang, 2021 ( Wang et al., 2021a: 17, figs 1A–B, 3–5) in having a thick and short median apophysis, membranous conductor, groove-like terminal apophysis, and relatively large, crescent-shaped fertilization ducts, but differs by the terminal apophysis with a triangular end (vs. hook-like in A. huangi ), the thin and serpentiform embolus (vs. crescent-shaped in A. huangi ), the pediform median apophysis (vs. liver-shaped in A. huangi ) ( Figs 1A–B View FIGURE 1 , 2C–G View FIGURE 2 ), the C-shaped spermathecal stalks (vs. V-shaped in A. huangi ), and the large spermathecal heads (vs. small in A. huangi ) ( Figs 1C–D View FIGURE 1 , 2H–I View FIGURE 2 ).

Description. Male holotype ( Fig. 2A View FIGURE 2 ) total length 3.68. Prosoma 2.19 long, 1.53 wide; opisthosoma 1.62 long, 1.11 wide. Carapace grey brown. Eye sizes and interdistances: AME 0.06, ALE 0.07, PME 0.28, PLE 0.20; AME– AME 0.08, AME–ALE 0.10, PME–PME 0.21, PME–PLE 0.19. Clypeus height 0.08. Chelicerae yellow brown, with three promarginal and two retromarginal teeth. Endites and labium yellow brown, longer than wide. Sternum yellow brown, with sparse brown setae. Legs yellow-brown. Leg measurements: I 5.83 (1.56, 1.90, 1.45, 0.92); II 5.29 (1.44, 1.74, 1.34, 0.77); III 5.05 (1.39, 1.59, 1.39, 0.68); IV 7.26 (1.84, 2.34, 2.06, 1.02). Leg formula: 4123. Opisthosoma oval. Dorsum yellow-brown, with black markings. Venter yellow-brown.

Palp ( Figs 1A–B View FIGURE 1 , 2C–G View FIGURE 2 ). Terminal apophysis wide, covered by median apophysis, distal part antidromous, with a sharp end. Median apophysis with a wide base, its anterior part pediform, slightly sclerotized. Embolus thin and serpentiform. Conductor wide, membranous, tapering distally.

Female paratype (Ar45248) ( Fig. 2B View FIGURE 2 ) body features and colour as in the male. Total length 4.42. Prosoma 2.20 long, 1.58 wide; opisthosoma 1.96 long, 1.51 wide. Eye sizes and interdistances: AME 0.08, ALE 0.06, PME 0.26, PLE 0.21; AME–AME 0.06, AME–ALE 0.08, PME–PME 0.20, PME–PLE 0.20. Clypeus height 0.05. Leg measurements: I 6.31 (1.77, 2.20, 1.45, 0.89); II 5.61 (1.54, 1.92, 1.39, 0.76); III 5.09 (1.48, 1.59, 1.32, 0.70); IV 7.70 (2.05, 2.40, 2.29, 0.96). Leg formula: 4123.

Epigyne ( Figs 1C–D View FIGURE 1 , 2H–I View FIGURE 2 ). Spermathecal heads round. Spermathecal stalks C-shaped, wider than spermathecal heads, separated from each other by two times the length of a fertilization duct. Fertilization ducts relatively large, crescent-shaped.

Habitat preferences. All the specimens were collected by leaf-litter sieving, indicating this species mostly lives in leaf litter.

Distribution. Known only from the type locality, Tam Dao National Park, Vinh Phuc Province, Vietnam ( Fig. 7 View FIGURE 7 ).
