Metasesarma obesum (Dana, 1851) View in CoL
Material examined. 1 male (9.2 x 8.4 mm) ( DABFUK), Kavaratti, 10 October 2014 .
Remarks. This is a common supralittoral species widely distributed in the Indo-West Pacific. The species was also seen at Kalpeni but specimens were not collected. Previously recorded from Lakshadweep (Alcock 1900b; Dev Roy 2008; Kumaralingam et al. 2017). The species is better known as Metasesarma rousseauxi H. Milne Edwards, 1853 , but Ng & Schubart (2003) showed that Sesarma obesa Dana, 1851 , is a senior subjective synonym.
