Plagusia squamosa (Herbst, 1790) View in CoL
Material examined. 1 male (36.6 x 35.4 mm) ( DABFUK), Kavaratti, 13 October 2014 ; 1 female (21.2 x 18.7 mm) ( DABFUK), Kilton, 20 October 2014 ; 2 females (20.5 x 19.2 mm, 13.02 x 12.98 mm) ( DABFUK), Androth, 2 February 2015 .
Remarks. This species was also seen in the islands of Amini, Bitra, Chetlat, Kadamat, Kalpeni and Minicoy, but specimens were not collected. Schubart & Ng (2000) showed that the better known name, Plagusia tuberculata Lamarck, 1818 , is a junior synonym of P. squamosa (Herbst, 1790) . The species has a wide Indo-West Pacific distribution ( Crosnier 1965; Schubart & Ng 2000).
