Menaethius monoceros (Latreille, 1825) View in CoL
Material examined. 1 male (11.5 x 15.3 mm) ( DABFUK), Androth, 10 November 2013 ; 1 ovigerous female (8.3 x 10.8 mm) ( DABFUK), Bitra, 8 May 2015 .
Remarks. The long, basally narrow rostrum, distinctly areolate dorsal carapace surface and non-cristate meri of the ambulatory legs distinguishes this widely distributed species from the closely related M. orientalis (Sakai, 1969) (see Griffin & Tranter 1986). This species is common in Agatti, Minicoy, Androth, Bitra, Kilton, Kalpeni and Kadamat but material was not collected. Menaethius monoceros has previously been reported from Lakshadweep ( Thomas 1969; Bakus 1994; Venkataraman et al. 2004; Suvarna Devi et al. 2014; Kumaralingam et al. 2017).
