DIAGNOSIS. Female (length about 1.4-1.8mm): head generally metallic green or blue-green with violet areas especially in scrobal area; piliferous punctures conspicuous (Fig. 1412), but not contrasting, varying from slightly smaller to slightly larger than ocelli; lower face with setae slightly more dense than those on frontovertex and more conspicuous; thorax pale yellow to pale orange with pronotum, anterior part of mesoscutum and scutellum dark and metallic; hind femur pale orange; fore and mid tibiae yellow to pale orange, hind tibia pale orange with apex brown; all funicle segments (Fig. 1414) a little longer than broad, F6 subquadrate; apex of mandible oblique with 4 extremely short teeth (Fig. 1412); mesoscutum relatively dull with piliferous punctures shallow and indistinct, setae dark brown and conspicuous, sculpture shallow, fine, polygonally reticulate; scutellum with relatively deep, polygonally reticulate sculpture; fore leg with apical tarsomere (Fig. 1419) slightly longer than four basal tarsomeres; hind leg with apical tarsomere about as long as three basal tarsomeres; fore wing (Figs 1413, 1415) with postmarginal vein not reaching wing margin; hypopygium Fig, 1418); ovipositor Fig. 1416. Male (length about 1.6mm): similar to female but for structure of antenna and genitalia; antenna (Fig. 1417) with flagellum filiform with all segments at least a little longer than broad, parallel-sided and clothed in setae that are shorter than diameter of segments; phallobase about 2.5X as long as broad; cuspis seta absent; aedeagus about 14.5X as long a broad, but very slender towards apex.

MATERIAL EXAMINED.
Type material. Holotype E: COSTA RICA, Puntarenas, RF Golfo Dulce, 24km W. of Piedras Blancas , 200m, i-iii.1991 (P. Hanson) . Paratypes: COSTA RICA, 1E, 2G, Puntarenas, same data as holotype but ivv.1991, ii.1992 and i-ii.1993 . Holotype and paratypes in NHMUK .
Non type material. COSTA RICA, 1E, Puntarenas, Est. Altamira, Send a Casa Coca, LS 331750 574400, 1700m, #62096, 14.ii-16.iii.2001 ( D. Rubí ). Material in MZUCR .
COMMENTS. This is the most distinctive species of Sectiliclava since the thorax is mostly yellow or pale orange, in all other species the thorax is mostly dark brown with a metallic sheen.
