Diagnosis. Lissodendoryx (L.) barkleyensis n. sp. is the only shallow cave-dwelling Lissodendoryx recorded for Southern BC. The combination of cave habit, amorphous habitus, micropapillate surface, and spicule form and dimensions distinguish this species from other described Lissodendoryx (Lissodendoryx) .
Etymology. The sponge is named after the location, Barkley Sound, BC.
