Haplothrips robustus Bagnall View in CoL
Haplothrips robustus Bagnall, 1918: 209 View in CoL .
Until recently this species was known only from Australia, where females are widespread across the continent ( Mound & Minaei 2007). However, H. sesuvii Priesner View in CoL from Java was recently synonymised with H. robustus View in CoL , and the species was also recorded from Oahu and the New Hebrides ( Mound & Matsunaga 2017). No male of H. robustus View in CoL has ever been recorded, and the species may have been dispersed out of Africa, because it is similar in structure to the African species H. claripennis Priesner. It is a typical member of the subgenus Trybomiella , with broad fore wings that are constricted medially and no duplicated cilia distally on the posterior margin.
