Nanohystrix n. gen.
Type species: Nanohystrix hammerae n. sp.
Diagnosis and description. As for family.
Etymology. The genus name is derived from the Latinized Greek word for porcupine (hystrix), prefaced by that for dwarf (nano). It relates to the long defensive hairs, which—based on postures of dead specimenspresumably trail behind the mite until they are erected upon disturbance.
