Noyes (2002) provides a complete list of the more than 40 synonymies that apply to this genus. Aprostocetus View in CoL is by far the largest and most diverse of all the tetrastichine genera. The Afrotropical fauna has never been studied in any detail and is based mainly on scattered descriptions of fewer than 40 species, mostly from West and Central Africa, and listed by Noyes (2002).
