Material. 2 specimens (1 C, 1 F).

Diagnosis. Pokorńy (1951, p. 611).

Description. Large elongated carapace, bean-shaped in lateral view, biconvex in dorsal view. Overlap of the larger LV over the RV along the whole outline. Bow-shaped projection in ventral view. Hmax at 2/5 anterior; Lmax at 1/3 ventral; Wmax median. Regularly convex dorsal margin, more arched in its posterior part. Clearly concave ventral margin. Ventral and dorsal margins almost parallel (carapace slightly slender posteriorly). Convex anterior margin, more arched in its dorsal part than in its ventral part. Regularly convex posterior margin. Anterior and posterior ends of the carapace well rounded. Anterior end of the carapace higher than the posterior one. Anterior part of the carapace higher than posterior one. Surface smooth.

Discussion. A very common species in Givetian deposits of Europe. The collected specimens show juveniles whose outline is different from adults, with a narrower posterior part. The high variability of the species described by Żbikowska (1983) was present in our material, with sometimes a more elongated or higher carapace, a more convex dorsal margin or a straighter ventral margin, a more or less arched carapace, and an anterior part more or less wide.

Occurrences. Lower to Upper Givetian (Hanonet, Trois-Fontaines, Terres d’Haurs, Mont d’Haurs Fms, and Fromelennes Fm, Flohimont and Moulin Boreux Mbs), Ardenne (Flohimont, Couvin, Jemelle, Glageon, Sourd d’Ave, Mont d’Haurs, Cul d’Houille and Aisne sections), Middle Givetian to Lower Frasnian (Candás Fm, mb B), Asturias (Peran-Perlora section); Givetian, Eifel; Middle Devonian, Bohemia, USA.
