Cytherellina cf. groosae Coen, 1985
(Pl. II: Fig. 19)
cf. 1985 Cytherellina groosae nov. sp.; Coen: pl. 8, figs. 9–12.
2013 Cytherellina cf. groosae (Coen) ; Maillet: 104, pl. XIII, fig. 17.
Material. 1 specimen (1 C).
Description. Medium-sized elongated and well-rounded carapace, sub-pentagonal in lateral view, rather flat in dorsal view. Overlap of the larger LV over the RV very slight along the whole outline. Hmax slightly posterior; Lmax slightly ventral; Wmax postero-ventral. Dorsal margin regularly convex in the posterior part and oblique from mid-length towards anterior margin. Ventral margin almost straight posteriorly and oblique from mid-length towards anterior margin. Dorsal and ventral margins converging both anteriorly and posteriorly. Slightly convex anterior margin, becoming more rounded ventrally. Regularly convex posterior margin. Posterior part of the carapace higher than the anterior one. Surface smooth.
Discussion. This specimen shows a rather elongated carapace for a Cytherellina , reminding C. groosae Coen, 1985 , a very common species of the Middle Devonian from the Ardenne. The marked inclination of the anterodorsal margin also reminds C. obliqua ( Kummerow, 1953) . However, the curvature of the postero-dorsal margin differs from the two species.
Occurrences. Middle Givetian (Candás Fm, mb A), Asturias (Peran-Perlora section).
