Material. 10 specimens (5 C, 5 V).
Diagnosis. Van Pelt (1933, p. 333) emend. Becker (1965a, p. 410).
Description. Medium-sized carapace, bean-shaped and slender posteriorly in lateral view. Slight dorsal overlap of the larger LV over the smaller RV. Hmax at 1/4 anterior; Lmax at 2/5 ventral; Wmax median. Convex arched dorsal margin. Almost straight ventral margin. Ventral and dorsal margins converging posteriorly. Well rounded anterior margin, regularly convex in the dorsal part and highly arched in the ventral part. Regularly convex posterior margin. Anterior part of the carapace higher than the posterior one. Surface finely reticulated. Longitudinal fine reticulation in the posterior part, becoming curved in the anterior part. Shoulder longing the posterior margin. Carapace flattened along the posterior margin.
Discussion. A classical species in Givetian deposits of Europe.
Occurrences. Lower to Middle Givetian (Hanonet, Terres d’Haurs and Mont d’Haurs Fms, and Fromelennes Fm, Flohimont Mb), Ardenne (Flohimont, Cul d’Houille, Resteigne, Mont d’Haurs and Aisne sections), Middle Givetian (Huergas Fm and Candás Fm, mbs A and B), Asturias (Peran-Perlora and Huergas sections) and Palencia; Givetian, Boulonnais and Morocco; Middle Devonian, USA and Poland; Lower to Middle Devonian, Eifel.
