Evlanella cf. lessensis Casier, 1991

(Pl. I: Fig. 21)

cf. 1991 Evlanella lessensis nov. sp.; Casier in Casier & Préat: 164–165, pl. 2, figs. 5–8. 2013 Evlanella cf. lessensis Casier ; Maillet: 77, pl. IX, figs. 8.

Material. 1 specimen (1 C).

Description. Medium-sized elongated carapace, slightly slender posteriorly in lateral view, quite flat in dorsal view. Slight overlap of the larger RV over the LV ventrally and antero-dorsally. Hmax at 1/3 anterior; Lmax median to slightly dorsal; Wmax at mid-length and at 1/3 ventral, sometimes more postero-ventral. Dorsal margin straight in its anterior part, slightly oblique in its posterior part. Slightly concave ventral margin. Dorsal and ventral margins slightly converging posteriorly. Well-rounded, regularly convex anterior margin. Oblique posterior margin, becoming very convex at its extremities. Anterior part of the carapace higher than the posterior one. Carapace slightly flattened along the free margins, more especially along the posterior one. Marked adductorial sulcus (S2) at mid-length, sub-circular and extending from mid-height towards the dorsal margin. Small depression anteriorly to the adductorial sulcus. Marked shoulder extending along the posterior margin. Surface finely reticulated, with reticles orientated longitudinally.

Discussion. This specimen differs from E. lessensis Casier, 1991 by exhibiting a marked posterior shoulder and a carapace more slender posteriorly.

Occurrence. Middle Givetian (Candás Fm, mb B), Asturias (Peran-Perlora section).
