Procampylaspis muradianae View in CoL n. sp.

(gures 9, 10)

Material. HOLOTYPE female ( AM N H 18046), sta. V-17-15, 4.00 mm body length (partially dissected).

Type locality. 47 ss 02 ¾ S, 75 ss 36 ¾ W, 626–642 m depth, SE Paci c Ocean, collected by R. V. ‘ Vema,’ 24 M arch 1961 .

Etymology. This species is dedicated in honour of the Romanian specialist in Cumacea, Mrs Zarui Muradian-Ciamician.

Description of female. Integument of carapace with rounded reticulation. Carapace (gures 9A,B) 45% of entire body length; ocular lobe long and thin, not reaching tip of pseudorostral lobes; four pairs of dorsal tubercles and a dorsal keel present; short serration on anterior margin. Antenna 1 (gure 9C) rst article of peduncle longer than the rest of peduncle, articles thin. Maxilliped 2 (gures 9D,E) propodus 1.4 times as long as carpus; dactylus tooth 5 as long as 3, tooth 4 shorter than half of 3, tooth 2 almost fused with tooth 1 which is as long as tooth 3. Maxilliped 3 (gure 9F) basis shorter than half of maxilliped; merus with one inner tooth and three outer teeth; carpus with two outer teeth; dactylus with long terminal setae. Pereopod 1 (gure 10A) basis with long robust seta on inner distal corner; ischium shorter than merus, merus as long as carpus and propodus, dactylus with long simple terminal setae. Pereopod 2 (gure 10B) carpus slightly longer than merus, with robust seta on inner distal corner, dactylus four times as long as propodus, with long plumose terminal setae. Exopod s on maxilliped 3 and pereopods 1 and 2. Pereopods 3–5 (gure 10C–E) with plumose setae on basis; length of basis diminishing from third to fth pair and length of carpus increasing from third to fth pair. Uropod (gure 10F) with peduncle 2.4 times as long as last pleonite, 1.75 times as long as endopod, with setules on both sides; exopod 67% of endopod length, with microserrate seta; endopod robust, with three inner microserrate setae, two subterminal setae and strong setulated terminal seta, shorter than endopod.

Remarks. Procampylaspis muradianae n. sp. is related to P. acanthomma . Common features are the reticulated integument of the carapace, the shape of the teeth on maxilliped 2, and the shape of pereopod 2. It diOEers from the latter in having rounded reticulation (instead of hexagonal) tubercles on the carapace, a longer ocular lobe, teeth on the merus and carpus of maxilliped 3, the basis of pereopod 1 with a robust seta (versus none), the shorter propodus of pereopod 1, a longer uropodal peduncle, and a longer endopod with stronger setae ( table 1).
