In the Neotropics, the Lutosinae is represented by five of the seven known genera: Apotetamenus is distributed in the Amazon region; Hydrolutos is distributed in the Guiana Shield, usually on the Tepuis formations of Roraima; Licodia is from the Greater Antilles and Lutosa and Neolutosa with are distributed in Central and South America. In the following a new species is described belonging to Apotetamenus and A. politus (Bruner, 1915) is redescribed with a neotype designated.
