Diagnosis. Proguithera is similar to the genera Guithera and Lutevula Breddin, 1909 , but can be differentiated by the two-segmented fore tarsus nearly as long as the fore tibia. For detailed diagnostic characters of Proguithera , see Ishikawa & Naka (2016).

Diversity and distribution. Four species, of which three ( P. caspersi sp. nov., P. drescheri and P. kiinugama ) are known from the Oriental Region, another species ( P. inexpectata ) is distributed in the southern Palearctic Region ( Fig. 34 View FIGURE 34 ).
