Brazil, Ceará: 1 male, LIMCE-UFC 715, Fortaleza, Rio Ceará, coll. unknown, 28.iii.2006; 1 ov. female, MZUSP 27597, Paracuru, Praia da Pedra Rachada, sand, in burrow, suction pump, coll. A. Anker & P.P.G. Pachelle, 04.vii.2012 [fcn 12-156]; 1 male, 1 ov. female, MZUSP 33458, Paracuru, Rio Curu estuary, mud flat, in burrow, suction pump, P.P.G. Pachelle & H. Matthews-Cascon, 29.iv.2014 [fcn PP 14-050].

Distribution. Western Atlantic: USA (Massachusetts to Florida), Gulf of Mexico and Brazil (Amapá, Pará, Ceará, Rio Grande do Norte, Pernambuco, Alagoas, Sergipe, Bahia , Espírito Santo, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Paraná, Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Sul) ( Coelho 1997b; Melo 1998; Coelho et al. 2008; present study).

Remarks. The specimens from Ceará agree well with Coelho (1997b) ’s diagnosis of Pinnixa sayana , including the armature on the fixed finger of the female chelipeds.
