gen. nov.

Genus Paranotosoma View in CoL gen. nov.

Diagnosis. Differs from the superficially similar genus Caucaseuma in the structure of the coxal processes of the posterior gonopods, which are shorter and robust, vs. flagelliform in Caucaseuma or Heterocaucaseuma gen. nov.

Etymology. To emphasize the well-developed lateral keels in the type-species. The name is a neuter noun.

Description. Body length 12–16.5 mm in males; 12–18.5 mm in females; number of body segments 30 in adults (including telson). Body pigmented. Head slightly concave in males. Antennae and walking legs normal. Lateral keels well-developed, especially so in P. subrotundatum gen. et sp. nov. Macrochaetae short to mediumsized, trichoid. Leg-pairs 3–7 in males enlarged. Male leg-pair 7 with posterior coxal processes or at least their rudiments. Leg-pairs 10 and 11 in males with coxal glands, with neither any coxal horns nor processes.

Anterior gonopods with a medial, subtriangular, hairy, sternal sac (ss) arising from sternal plate (sp) on anterior side. Coxal processes divided into an anterior and a posterior part. Anterior coxal processes (cp) wide and shieldlike, fused, divided only distally. Posterior coxal processes (pp) consisting of an anterior horn (ah) which abuts on posterior wall of anterior shields; and a posterior, more complex part. Medial part in posterior view with large coxal vesicles (cv).

Posterior gonopods with completely divided coxites (c). Posterolateral sides with small telopodites (t). Coxal vesicles (cv) present on anterior side. Both coxites bearing a pair of coxal processes: a narrower anterior (ap) and a more robust posterior (pp) one.

Distribution. Abkhazia, Georgia, Russia ( Fig. 167 View FIGURE 167 , square).

Type species. Paranotosoma subrotundatum gen. et sp. nov., by present designation.
