( Figs 16–20 View FIGURES 15 – 20 , 54 View FIGURES 52 – 55 )

Comparison. Stethantyx juninensis sp. nov. belongs to the complex of species with flagellum with pale median band. In this complex it is similar to S. alajuela as both have a black head with yellow face, but differs from this species by the anteriorly black mesoscutum, longer tergite 2 of metasoma, lighter hind leg and metasoma behind first tergite, and somewhat shorter ovipositor.

Description. Female. Body length 6.5 mm. Fore wing length 4.5 mm.

Head very strongly rounded behind eyes in dorsal view; temple 0.4× as long as eye width. Mandible with upper tooth much longer than lower tooth. Clypeus lenticular, flat in lateral view, smooth in lower 2/3, punctate in its upper part. Malar space 0.5–0.6× as long as basal width of mandible. Antennal flagellum weakly narrowed towards apex, with 27–30 flagellomeres (30 flagellomeres in holotype); subbasal flagellomeres 1.2–1.3× as long as broad, subapical flagellomeres slightly elongate. Face with elongate prominence centrally. Face and frons finely and densely punctate, finely granulate. Vertex and temple very finely granulate, with fine, sometimes indistinct punctures. Hypostomal carina absent.

Notaulus usually as a fine wrinkle anterolaterally. Mesoscutum finely granulate and densely punctate. Scutellum finely granulate, moderately punctate, with lateral longitudinal carinae reaching from its base to about posterior 0.5. Foveate groove of mesopleuron situated in anterior 0.6 of mesopleuron, oblique, deep and crenulate, not reaching anterior margin of mesopleuron. Mesopleuron with fine, sometimes indistinct punctures, mostly finely granulate, centrally smooth. Propodeum granulate, dorsolateral area finely punctate, sometimes with fine, inconspicuous short wrinkles adjacent to carinae. Basal part of propodeum very short, 0.23× as long as apical area. Basal area, if present, short and strongly widened anteriorly, but basal longitudinal carinae usually indistinct and propodeum with few longitudinal wrinkles dorsally (holotype and some paratypes); one species with basal keel. Propodeal spiracle small, separated from pleural carina by about one diameter of spiracle. Apical area flat, anteriorly rounded or roundly pointed.

Fore wing with first and second sections of radius angled 105–115°. Intercubitus distinctly longer than abscissa of cubitus between intercubitus and second recurrent vein. Metacarpus almost reaching apex of fore wing. Hind wing with nervellus slightly inclivous.

Legs slender. Hind femur 4.6× as long as broad, and 0.88× as long as tibia. Hind spurs almost straight.

First tergite slender, 3.8× as long as posteriorly broad, entirely smooth. Glymma situated near middle of tergite, small, joining by very shallow furrow to ventral part of postpetiole. Second tergite 1.8–2.0× as long as anteriorly broad (1.85× in holotype). Thyridial depression about 3.0× as long as broad. Ovipositor distinctly upcurved, with shallow dorsal subapical depression; sheath about 1.3× as long as first tergite and 1.2× as long as hind tibia.

Head black; face, malar space, clypeus, palpi and mandible (teeth black) yellow. Antenna black, scape ventrally yellowish, 3–6 subapical flagellomeres white. Mesosoma brownish orange, propleuron and anterior margin of pronotum slightly yellowish, mesoscutum in anterior 0.5–0.8 extensively black. Legs yellow to yellowbrown, hind tibia and tarsus more or less infuscate. Pterostigma brownish black. Metasoma predominantly reddish brown, postpetiole of first tergite and following tergites dorsally usually brown to dark brown.

Male. Unknown.

Variation. The holotype is larger than most of the paratypes; the smallest specimens have a body length of about 4.8 mm. Some paratypes are much paler than the description.

Etymology. Named after the type locality, Junín region in Peru.

Material examined. Holotype female (UNALM), Peru, Junín reg., La Merced, Fundo La Genova, 20.XII.2008 – 3.I.2009.
