Pecluma venturii (de la Sota) M.G.Price, Amer. Fern J. View in CoL 73(3): 115. 1983.
= Polypodium venturii de la Sota, Opera Lilloana 5: 186, f. 31. 1961.
Range: —Disjunct in semiarid valley systems in Peru, Bolivia (CO, LP, SC), and northwestern Argentina; also cited from Ecuador by Tryon & Stolze (1993). Only a handful of specimens were cited by Evans (1969), none from Ecuador or Bolivia.
Ecology: —Locally fairly common; epiphytic or saxicolous in semihumid forests; (900) 1900–3100 m.
Notes: —Differs from P. eurybasis by longer hairs 0.4–0.8 mm long on rachises, costae, and veins, and from P. camptophyllaria by usually completely free venation, longer costal hairs and fewer blade hairs, glabrous sporangia, and softer, more delicate blades. Pecluma venturii has about the same size and aspect as P. pectinata , but has free veins, longer rachis and costal hairs, and occurs at higher elevation.
