Pleopeltis remota (Desv.) A.R.Sm., Candollea View in CoL 60(1): 282. 2005.

= Polypodium remotum Desv., Mém. Soc. Linn. Paris View in CoL 6(3): 232. 1827.

Range: —Greater Antilles; mountains from Mexico to Venezuela and Bolivia (BE, CO, LP, SC).

Ecology: —Common; epiphytic in humid forests; 1500–2500 m.

Notes: —The largest species of Pleopeltis in Bolivia, with slight dimorphism between sterile and fertile leaves. See P. fraseri , a probable close ally, for additional comments. Sundue et al. (2011) observed that specimens of this species, and many other Pleopeltis , had chlorophyllous spores, confirming earlier observations by Smith (1981).
